We are here!!! Every December the holidays appear like clockwork but every year I am always caught off guard! Lol. But I did manage to get the Silvestri Vineyards Holiday Party early this year. It was last week (early!!), and it was a very special evening. We bring all of our special people together to celebrate them and to thank them for everything they do for us throughout the year. Most of you are familiar with our tasting room staff and some of you might know our vineyard staff and still others know Alan's music and technical support. It's a diverse and wonderful group of friends and family! Please take a moment to say Hi when you are in town or in contact. We wish YOU a wonderful holiday season also! Please join us in our tasting room or enjoy our wines online or in the local restaurants in Carmel. You are sure to find a varietal to match your holiday celebrations! Have a wonderful holiday!! From The Winemaker
Hey all, Happy December and post-harvest!!! Well, the 2025 year in review begins as we wind down and take a look back at a crazy roller coaster year in the vineyard. The year started out with a bummer, some frost damage that significantly lowered our yields for the lower half of the vineyard. Not a train smash by any means but starting the year that way always bums one out a bit. The upper vineyard sits at a much higher elevation, so it doesn't get as cold as the bottom, original portion. The upper vineyard has all the Bordeaux varieties (Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot) as well as Syrah and our Grenache, all which ended up with pretty great yields and exceptional quality. The lower vineyard, original vineyard, is planted with the Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Barbera and Syrah all effected by the frost, not in quality but in yields, so look for the 2025 as a small vintage and one that is going to showcase the varieties, super exciting. The summer was very cool, so we picked pretty late, mid-October until mid-November or I guess whenever it was that we got that week of rain that provided 5" of rain, a 1/3 of our yearly totals, wow! Thankfully we were able to pull everything off before that craziness. Fermentations went great, wines are tasting clean and bright so now we keep them warm until they finish their secondary fermentation, the malolactic fermentation converting malic acid to lactic acid, a very important process. Once that finishes, in a couple more weeks, the wine will rest and just age until we are ready to bottle in 2027, that is so weird to write! From The Tasting Room:
December brings us something new! Though our 2019 Eugenia, red blend is amazing and a big favorite for many of us, we get to move on to the 2021 Eugenia. This new release will still be a fun red blend, but this time will be a mix of 47% Cabernet Franc, 37% Malbec and 13% Merlot. Something different and tasty! If you enjoy our white wines more, we do have a fabulous new release of the 2022 Bella Sandra, Chardonnay. This Chardonnay is the classic taste of Bella Sandra; soft and round with a light butteriness. It tastes just right and is just what we need during the holidays. Both of these exciting releases are now available online and in the tasting room. Come by to try the new flavors!
Please note, the tasting room will be closing early on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day so our team can celebrate with loved ones, but we'll reopen on Friday, December the 26th.
