From Sandra's Desk
May 2026
May 1st always makes me smile because Mother's Day is right around the corner and my children will be coming home. I am certain that I am not the only mother to feel this way. Raising our family on the Monterey Peninsula was an enormous gift to them AND to us. Alan's parents joined us shortly after we moved here and along with my brother and his family, and Alan's sister we made for a cozy little family group that was a constant source of pride and comfort.
The vineyard is home and family to many creatures as well as the family of grape varietals. The fact that we planted the vineyard in sections means that the vines are a variety of ages, too. Some, like the grapes planted in 2000, are still with us. The early chardonnay vines are the grandparent vines in our vineyard. They have been delivering estate chardonnay for 26 years. The youngest members of our grape family live on the top-most section of our vineyard. We chose Syrah for a re-plant because our Syrah has been one of our most sought-after varietals in the tasting room. Success DOES breed success… lol
In addition to the family of vines, we also host seasonal birds and critters of many species. We always have a yearly Canadian goose momma alongside our coot families as well as swallows, raptors and turkeys. This year we added a new family of Bubbleheads to our bird family. The vineyard is a living being all unto itself and we are fortunate to provide a home to all.
We wish you all a VERY Happy Mother's Day. Ohhh and remember, Rosé is always one of Mom's favorites… I speak from experience!!
Salute!
Sandra

From The Winemaker
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
Mother's Day is a great day to celebrate the moms out there and everything they do. I know my wife does everything my family and we would be absolutely lost without her!!! I think a lot about my mom when I am at the Silvestri winery. She passed away in August of 2012, just a few weeks before I started working here, so inevitably the two are forever linked,,, that was a great vintage but hard to get through. Anyway, I hope this year's Mother's Day is a great one and you are able to take some time out, lift a glass, and salute the moms out there keeping it all together.
In the vineyard, winter has finally arrived, lol. Late April and early May has been very wet and cool, after an incredibly warm and beautiful actual winter. Seems like the seasons have changed to be just a little later, who knows, being on the Central Coast we have seen it all. Hoping everyone is happy and healthy and trying some of the new wines that we are serving. As usual, there is something for everyone whether it's the lighter wines Chard, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, to the award-winning Pinot Noirs or some of our bigger wines like the Cab Sauv, Barbera and Syrahs which are like that Snuggie from Costco that just wraps you up and fills you with comfort. Whatever you dig, I hope you are loving it!
Cheers, Frank

From The Tasting Room:
Mother's Day is approaching and celebrating the woman that gave you life, is very important. Enjoy the time spent with your mothers, grandmothers or even great grandmothers because without their efforts you wouldn't be here today enjoying the great taste of Silvestri Vineyards. Haha!
Silvestri Vineyards is built around family and the support of loved ones, creating a product we are all proud of. The story of Silvestri begins with Alan's grandmother, Eugenia, who migrated to the United States from Piedmont, Italy. After settling in New Jersey and starting a new life, she shared her heritage through her kitchen, where she practiced the art of winemaking. This experience connected Alan to his roots. His love for his grandmother, his heritage, and his passion for wine helped inspire this dream come true, Silvestri Vineyards. Now, with the help and support from his beloved wife Sandra, they continue to create and grow their vineyard together.
To celebrate Mother's Day in the tasting room, we will be honoring Grandmother Eugenia by having the 2021, Eugenia, Red Blend open and available all month long. We are more than happy to share it with you.
