Welcome!

We appreciate your patronage and hope to keep you up to date on the latest news from the vineyard and the tasting room, (with an occasional bite from Alan's musical efforts).

From Sandra's Desk:

June brings canopies and new births, not only to friends and families but to the vineyard as well! After a month on the road visiting friends and family in the famous vineyards and towns of France and Italy while honoring our uncles sacrifice in France and celebrating Alan's early work of Back to the Future and it's 30th anniversary, we arrived home to exciting times in the Silvestri Vineyards family. For the first time in ten years we are adding new vines to our vineyard, bringing in varietals we have not personally grown but that we HAVE enjoyed throughout our travels. We think you will find that our new "babies" will bring new life to our wine varietals either as blending agents or standing on their own. We are excited to share with you this process and invite you to view a few photos from their "birth". Like all other proud parents we will continue to love and nurture our older "children" and believe that these new additions will only enhance our Silvestri Vineyard Family of wines. It has always been our goal to discover the full capabilities of Carmel Valley terroir and the new "kids" are part of this dream.

Alan will continue to assist in the making of the Back to the Future Film Concerts throughout the coming year. If you are interested in attending one of these concerts, below is a link to a web site with all of the dates and locations. If you decide to attend any of these please let us know. Alan and I would love to say hello.

Back to the Future Live in Concert

Experience the thrill of Back to the Future like never before - on a big hi-def screen with a full symphony orchestra performing Alan's dazzling musical score live in synch with the movie. Audiences will also be in for an exclusive treat: approximately fifteen minutes of brand new music composed by Alan for these unique live orchestra presentations.

Featured wine of the month:

2013 Pinot Blanc, Il Campione, Estate

A white wine grape that originates from Alsace (Northwestern France), Germany and Italy that produces a full-bodied white wine, which is sometimes referred to as Chardonnay's understudy; making medium to full-bodied wines with good acidity, and responds well to oak maturation. Most production in the US, however, tends to be made in a lighter, crisper style that sees far less oak aging.

The Silvestri Pinot Blanc grapes are pressed and put in stainless steel tanks, racked to both 55-gallon stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels, and then inoculated with yeast to initiate primary fermentation (sugar to alcohol). The wine does not go through malo-lactic fermentation in order to maintain the "crispness" that the malic acid brings as opposed to the "buttery" aspect of lactic acid. It is then aged for 5-8 months before bottling.

The 2013 Pinot Blanc, Il Campione, Estate bursts with peach, honeysuckle and dried apricot, and presents a soft mouthfeel that rolls into a firm yet balanced acidity. A lingering finish leaves your palate asking for more. This one is a crowd pleaser.
