From Sandra's Desk:
Community
On April 16th Silvestri vineyards hosted a HUGE wine release party at Hidden Valley Music in Carmel Valley. Our entire family joined us as we released our two newest wines, Piave Pinot Noir (named after our father, Louis Piave Silvestri) and our first Late Harvest Chardonnay. It was a special day for Alan and I as we had the opportunity to meet many of our wine club members, some for the first time and some as old friends. Thank you to everyone who joined us on that gorgeous Saturday and to our dear family and staff for demonstrating that Silvestri Vineyards is a family project in every sense of the word.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our local Monterey County wineries who have so generously answered our call for wine and experience donations to our Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Gala in San Francisco on May 21st. We have been humbled and honored by the response we have received and we would like to thank Ricky Nguyen, Wrath, Morgan, Blair, Galante and Dawn's Dream, Scheid, Parsonage, Joullian, Lucia, Pisoni, and Roar Wineries for your help in finding a cure for diabetes. Our wine community is without a doubt the most generous of communities. Thank you all!

From the Winemaker:
Woohoo what a wine club PARTY!!!!!! Thank you to all our supporters who were able to make it, we had some serious fun. We introduced the new Pinot, the Piave and it was absolutely killer, I wasn't sure that was going to be the case since it has only had 6 months of aging in the bottle but the wine was stellar. We also introduced the Late Harvest Chardonnay, man, what a wine! I am personally not a sweet wine type of guy but this one just pushes all the right buttons, not overly alcoholic, sweet, or viscous, it's as balanced a sweet wine as you are ever going to get. It only has 6% residual sugar, only slightly sweeter than the top selling Chardonnays at the supermarket, haahhaha that was a joke. In all seriousness, if you like Sauternes wines you will love this wine, even though it is made with Chardonnay instead of the standard Sauvignon Blanc or Semillon.
Currently, the vineyard is exploding with growth and we are excited to get back to a good crop load. 2015 was down 45% from the previous 3 harvests. In the winery we are tasting some of the wines that are currently sold out, the Bella Sandra Chardonnay and the Red Ranger Syrah, and are trying to time their release accordingly. We are so thankful that our fans have appreciated the wines to the point where they sell out faster than I can make them...truly the goal of any winery. So, there it is, happy spring and cheers and I hope to party with y'all again real soon.

From The Tasting Room:
The two new members to the Silvestri Vineyards wine family have arrived at the tasting room. The first release of our new Pinot Noir, Piave, and our Late Harvest Chardonnay are now available for purchase.
With the addition of the Piave and Late Harvest Chardonnay the Silvestri Vineyards profile now consists of 14 different wines. With only six different varietals planted (Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Barbera and Syrah) it's incredible that our winemaker can give us such a diverse lineup. He continues to identify subtle variances in the vineyard's terroir and does not hold back when looking to create something new for the Silvestri label. All of our wines are available for purchase in our tasting room and we always have a wonderful selection for you to taste. Please visit us any day of the week from 12:00 - 7:00pm. We look forward to seeing you.
Cheers!
Dorothea, Robin, Keith, Olivia and Sarah
2014 Pinot Noir, Piave, Estate
To honor Alan's father, Louis Piave Silvestri, we have created a special barrel-selected Pinot Noir from the western blocks of the vineyards. The Piave opens with an aroma of raspberry and dark cherry. It rolls around the palate with notes of clove and vanilla coming through in the middle. Finally it is soft in the finish with moderate acidity. This young wine will continue to develop over several years.

2014 Late Harvest Chardonnay, Estate:
Our foray into late harvest wine begins with this Chardonnay. Bursting pineapple and honey aromas bring back memories of pineapple upside down cake. Producing a viscous mouthfeel with a touch of the botrytis flavor of honeysuckle and mushroom in the back of the mouth. After all is said and done, a cleansing acidity balances the finish, leaving a "Wow, that was good. I'd like some more!" reaction.
