From Sandra's Desk:
Greetings, March!!!
Glad to be home!
Alan and I just returned from a 3 week cross country road trip for two Back to the Future Live concerts, over 7,000 miles! It was a fantastic experience, one enhanced by the number of small wineries we saw in our travels. We were not able to be home for the latest bottling but thanks to our tremendous crew and staff all went perfectly. We are grateful to them for the peace of mind their efforts provide when we have to attend to Alan's "day job". But with photos, long distance phone calls and tastings we are always in the loop and we can tell you that the wines are incredible. We bottled our first Late Harvest Chardonnay, a gorgeous jewel of a wine that we will be offering soon! We shared it with friends two nights ago and everyone agreed it's a winner! Travel always reminds us of how much we love our chosen home on the Monterey Peninsula. We missed our family, our friends, and our vineyard. As Alan's mother used to say, "Good to go but good to come back." In celebration of the new and old wines and friends, we look forward to seeing you all at our wine event at Hidden Valley on April 16th. Until then....
Salute!!!

From the Winemaker:
Spring has sprung, we can't weed whack fast enough and the gophers are breeding like rabbits. We bottled last week and everything ran as smooth as a prune juice smoothie. The 2014 Barbera, Eugenia, Syrah, and Red Ranger Syrah are probably the best wines I've made so far from this vineyard. Big, rich and opulent. These wines are what I have been striving for since joining the Silvestri Vineyards team in 2012. We also bottled our first ever Late Harvest Chardonnay with Botrytis. Personally I am not a sweet wine person but this one is an eye opener for me. It's bright in the front, viscous in the middle and the back end has the botrytis flavor profile to finish it off. It has 6% R.S. (residual sugar), just the right amount so the wine isn't too sweet, it's perfect.
Also, April 16th is our first ever wine club and spring release party and it is shaping up to be a seriously fun shindig.
I'm looking forward to seeing you there,
Frank

From The Tasting Room:
Signature and Motif Clubs:
Our two wine club levels have been renamed to better tie in with the Silvestri brand. The Signature Club (4-bottle) and the Motif Club (2-bottle) are both inspired by the two prominent features of our label, the signature and the motif, as well as being musical terms. Both clubs offer great savings on our wine all year long, as well as pre-releases on new vintages and member-only specials.
The Signature Club, however, not only offers a better discount on wine throughout the year, but it now guarantees those members the opportunity to receive library vintages in their wine club releases. To upgrade to the Signature Club you can access your account online, or call/visit our tasting room.
Back on the Menu!
Our 2014 Pinot Blanc is back on the tasting menu. With only a ½ acre planted in the vineyard, our Pinot Blanc is one of the smallest production wines, but it adds a key component to our diverse line up. Both fermentation and a short aging period take place in 55-gallon stainless steel barrels, which is key to keeping this Pinot Blanc crisp, fruity and refreshing.
Tasting Notes:
Bursting with peach, honeysuckle and apricot, our Pinot Blanc has a soft mouthfeel that rolls into a firm yet balanced acidity. The flavors go on and on. Perfect as an aperitif or enjoy with a summer seafood salad.
Case Production: 191
Price: $27 Retail, $22.95 Motif Club, $21.60 Signature Club
Close to the end!
Only a handful of cases remain of the 2013 Bella Sandra, Chardonnay. Our Bella Sandra is a rich, yet delicate style chardonnay. We start by pressing to stainless steel tanks, then rack to 75% new French oak barrels to begin primary fermentation, which takes place over a 3-4 week period. After primary fermentation is complete we begin the malolactic fermentation process. This process gives the wine a buttery, creamy character. The wine is then stirred every 10 days for several months to increase mouthfeel and aged for approximately 10 months before bottling.
The few remaining cases are still available at our tasting room and online, so order soon!
