We appreciate your patronage and hope to keep you up to date on the latest news from the vineyard and the tasting room, (with an occasional bite from Alan's musical efforts).

From Sandra's Desk:

Harvest

Whew! Those were a few big months since our last newsletter. Two very time consuming and important things came to an end with the passing of September and October. First, Alan finished his latest film project, "Allied" starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard. We are proud to say that the movie looks great and we hope you all will get a chance to see it after it opens on November 23^rd.

At the same time, our harvest began and finished. We were lucky enough to be here for round 2 of harvest, the pinot gris and pinot blanc, and we actually were able to hand harvest the wine ourselves as well as our wonderful staff from the vineyard and the tasting room. It's always a fun day when we get to experience the field work and this day was exceptionally beautiful. We are so grateful to our wonderful staff and winemaker for all they do to keep Silvestri Vineyards going while we are busy with Alan's "day job".

We'd like to take a minute to thank everyone who voted us Best Pinot Noir in the Carmel Pine Cone this month. It's an honor we never take for granted.

We'd also like to share with you that you are now part of a CLOSED wine club. That's right!! Our list is officially closed for now as the demand for our wines exceeds our supply. We will be constantly reviewing our members accounts and will re-open the list when we feel we can supply enough wine to our tasting room as well as our cherished list.

We hope you all had the chance to participate in the Carmel Centennial. Our entire family joined us to help celebrate our chosen hometown and to hear "Dad's" fanfare and marching music. Quite a thrill!

We'd ALSO like to say thank you to everyone who purchased a sneaker in our tasting room or who donated or walked with us as we participated in the JDRF One Walk in Pacific Grove . We raised A LOT of money for diabetes research and we are so grateful…even if we all are still a little wet…lol

As we move into the most important time of year for families, we wish you all a happy harvest of family memories and hope you find a place for our wines in your celebrations.

From the Winemaker:

That's a wrap. We just filled the last 2 barrels of 2016 Red Ranger and are now waiting patiently, generally 2 weeks to a month, on the conversion of malic acid to lactic acid aka malolactic fermentation. If you are not aware of this conversion, it is the secondary fermentation that all red wines go through and depending on the type of white wine or Rose' you would like to make, you can choose to convert with those wines as well. The big Ol buttery Chardonnays have gone through the conversion, the more austere whites have not. So in order to finish the conversion the wines have to stay relatively warm. Generally we put them outside in the sun daily. The winery guys are fork lifting maniacs at the moment. So the big question, the elephant in the room is.... have we seen any affects of the fire/smoke. And drumroll please....... As of now, not a hint, which is a great way to start and we are very thankful for that. Thankfulness segues perfectly to the wonderful upcoming holiday. Honestly, all the wines would be great, the varietals that we make just fit perfectly but if you want the perfect fit for the Turkey, mash potatoes and gravy, I would have to say the Syrahs are delicious. Thank you all for the continued support, without you and your support, this is all for not.

From The Tasting Room:

For the 3rd consecutive year our Pinot Noir has received the award for Best Monterey County Pinot Noir by the readers of the Carmel Pine Cone. We can't thank you enough for your support, and we are honored to have a great local following.

Over the past few years our winemaker, Frank, has given us three distinct bottles of estate Pinot Noir from our vineyard.   All bring elegant notes of dark cherries, raspberries and a touch of spice, but each one clearly represents their individual place within the vineyard. Both the Estate Pinot and the Piave, Pinot Noir are being poured in our tasting room daily. We hope to see you soon!
