From Sandra's Desk:
Whoa! No! Tell me it's not true! December? Already????
I'm sure that I am not the only one who feels this way when December 1st rolls around, right???? The responsibilities of the harvest and wine making during the fall months are intense and all consuming. And sometimes it seems like there are not enough hours in the day to attend to all of the needs of the vineyard. Thankfully, we have an incredible staff that moves through these consuming days with a professionalism and dedication that is unmatched. Frank and Marshall, Jose and Santiago, plus everyone in the Silvestri Vineyards tasting room and wine club works hard keeping up with their responsibilities while Alan focuses on his "day job", writing music for films. And me? I circle between both of these big lives, visiting the vineyard and tasting room, weighing in on decisions and tasting the wine and also attending Alan's scoring sessions in LA and supporting his work that supports our lives and passions, including our family and wine business. I get dizzy just thinking about the year we have had and the good fortune we have to live in this remarkable place and still work with the most incredible filmmakers of our generation.
We all look forward to the coming holidays, gathering our children and loved ones from around the area and celebrating our many blessings. As I have said before, we count YOU, our faithful customers, among our blessings. Your support and patronage make everything possible at Silvestri Vineyards. We will soon be celebrating our Silvestri Vineyards family at our annual Christmas Party. We will toast all of you as well on that night, for without you…well, YOU KNOW…. There would be no Silvestri Vineyards. We wish you all a joyous holiday season and look forward to serving you again in the New Year.
With MUCH love and Appreciation…
Salute,
Sandra

From The Winemaker:
A very Merry Christmas and Happy holidays to all. As the new year approaches and the days are short, which makes the evenings (4:45 on) insane with 3 rambunctious boys, I find several glasses of wine extremely helpful in reflecting on the year and how truly lucky we are. This year was a nice rebound year from '15 and '16 which were a bit tumultuous to say the least. In 2017 the state of California finally broke a very long drought and the vines responded in a very positive way. Yields, weather and ripening were near perfect. We only had one hiccup, that being an early September excessive heat wave that resulted in bit of raisining/loss of fruit which of course added a bit of strife in the winery. All in all, it's been a pretty great year not only for the vineyard and winery but at the tasting room and with the wine club. For the tasting room and wine club we have all of you to thank, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH...The current wines and the upcoming wines to be released, are some of the best we have ever produced, for which I am stoked and thankful. Most folks really don't understand the actual timeline and work that it takes to create a wine. The whites and Pinot Noir generally take up to 2 to 2.5 years before it gets to the consumer (that includes the growing season) and our big reds take close to 3 years. That, my friends, requires a lot of work, hopefulness, praying for some of us, and to be Frank (bad pun) stress that you will actually love it, as I did throughout the process. So cheers to you, patience, the hope for another great year, and that everyone has a safe and festive holiday season, of course including the enjoyment of our delicious wines.
Frank
