July 2021

Summer!!!  Fourth of July, swimming, sunshine and vacations. Everything is returning slowly, but surely, to our California lives.  Unfortunately, the threat of fires is also returning.  When the heat wave hit last month, everyone here in California looked to our weather maps to see "How long?"  "Where?" "How dry?".  Memories of fires in the recent past leaves us all a little shell-shocked when we hear that there is a fire in our area.  We are blessed to have amazing fire fighters in this state who have saved our lives and property many times.  We ask a lot of them, living as we do in this environment.  We are so grateful to them all for everything that they do to keep our home and families safe and yes, our vines too. Last season we suffered the loss of our red varietals to the smoke from the fires. But we chose to make the best of a bad situation, and Frank created wonderful Rosé wines that we will soon be selling as "Everything is coming up Rosé".
 
The Silvestri Family is looking forward to a big adventure this year as Alan works to help bring "Back to the Future the Musical" to the West End London stage. If you are traveling to London in the near future, look for it at the Adelphi Theater. It's a lot of fun and we know you will recognize the music. Dah da da,  dah da da dah da dah dah dah!!! VERY SILVESTRI.

Hey everyone,
Happy start of official Summer. Stop me if I have mentioned this before, but the old cliche that time moves faster and faster as you get older, is SO true. I guess I can't believe it's almost the 4th of July, which will quickly be the start of the school year for the kids, then onto bottling in mid August followed by a couple weeks later.....the start of harvest. Harvest quickly, (and painstakingly long), ends in late November, which quickly becomes the new year and so on and so forth. Basically, I am shocked at how fast it all goes. That being said, it is a great reminder to slow down, enjoy a sunset, with a beautiful glass of wine, of course, and take in every moment. Ok, enough of the deep thoughts, you all are probably wondering how it's all going, well.....all is good! The vineyard is catching up after a very slow start, the tasting room is following the same pattern, thankfully, and thank YOU all. It's still too early to tell but it seems the vineyard is on a great path to a really good vintage. The current wines are really getting some very high praise so if you haven't been into the tasting room in awhile, drop by and give them a taste.
