We appreciate your patronage and hope to keep you up to date on the latest news from the vineyard and the tasting room (with an occasional bite from Alan's musical efforts).

WOW! What's the old saying? "In like a lion, out like a lamb"? More like "In like a snow leopard…" As I write this newsletter there is SNOW falling all around us. We have had snow in the vineyard! This happens every once in a GREAT while but not as much as this year! I am sending you some photos of the winter wonderland in our top bench vineyards. Fortunately, everyone is sleeping up there, so the snow will not affect our growing season. It snows in many places in the world where grapes are grown and wine is made so don't worry. There will be wine!
Contrary to the weather, things are heating up in Alan's career life. "Back to the Future the Musical" is moving into the Winter Garden Theater and signage is up and tickets are on sale. It opens June 30th for previews and the premiere gala is at the end of July. Because we can send wine to New York, you will be seeing some fun pics of our wine as we move into the theater. There are BTTF concerts around the country (and world) as well, so there is plenty of fun for everyone. Alan is also busy with film music; not bad for someone who celebrates his 73rd birthday this month on March 26th

We wish you all a happy "return of the lamb" however you choose to spend it. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to seeing you in the tasting room or around Carmel. Until then….

From The Winemaker

Hey all! Wow, so it's been cold, like for real cold. Nights are consistently below freezing out here at the vineyard. I know, for all of you not living in the Central Coast of California, a giant eye roll just happened as you read this. The below freezing part is not the issue, that is somewhat a regular occurrence year after year, what has been off is that normally we will have 30-40 degree changes from the low to the high of the day. These past weeks it has been been struggling to get to the 50's. Now, besides my wife threatening for us to move to Hawaii or Aruba, I am actually pretty pleased. This super cold keeps the vines dormant longer which helps us get to a point in the season where we feel a little more comfortable if and when the vines wake up, that we would be clear of an event (I will not say it but it's a word that starts with fr and ends in st) that would be crop damaging. So in spite of my best interest, I am happy for an actual winter... woohoo. On the winery front, I believe we are about to release the new Rising Tide Pinot Noir. Some ask how do you determine what are the reserves vs. the regular Estate wines. Well in the case of all 3 wines that have a reserve (Pinot, Chard, and Syrah) the clones and site is the main determining factor. In general, the reserves will get a higher percentage of new French oak as well. I hope all of you are well and enjoy the spring that will soon be here.

From The Tasting Room:

We can't believe it is already March. The weather in Carmel-by-the-Sea is starting to take a turn. More rain showers are sure to come but what better way to spend it than joining us in the tasting room?

Attention wine club members, it is wine club release time! Wine club members of Silvestri Vineyards that are out of the area, will be receiving shipments of this months wine. If you are more local, remember to come in to pick-up this month's release. During wine club release weekend, we will be hosting a "Pick-up Party". Come enjoy wine and charcuterie all weekend long starting the last Friday of March.
We would be pleased to have our wine club members visit. We will be releasing the new vintage of the 2019, Rising Tide, Pinot Noir. More details will follow in the wine club email.
