From Sandra's Desk

September 2023
And it's here! Our favorite time of the year! Bottling! and soon Harvest!
It's an exciting time but also a little frightening! First the fun part! Bottling of this year's reds! We bottled this week, and I am telling you…you are in for a treat! Frank has made a bunch of beautiful wines this year. We tasted the Eugenia (incredible) and Barbera (almost made me cry, it's so good) and whooooeeeee, good stuff. The weather cooperated and we were able to accomplish it in two days which was exactly as planned by Marshall. Thanks to our amazing staff for making this year a perfect event.
Now for the frightening part…. please be careful with anything having to do with fire. This time of year, we all hold our breath around the Monterey Peninsula. It's important for all of our lives, and it is a critical time for all of the vineyards. We need your cooperation and of course, Mother Nature's help… no rainstorms or heat waves…. We might actually make it! Thank you!
The Silvestri Family is planning our son James' and his wonderful Ashley's wedding in November, so you will see us around town. Busy, busy! If you do see us, please say "Hi". We'd love to thank you in person for being true-blue customers, because without you, none of this is possible!
?P.S. We bid a fond farewell to our Dorothea. She joined us on the first day that we opened our tasting room in Carmel Valley and is leaving us to be with family on the East Coast. Thank you, Dorothea, for all of your wonderful effort on behalf of Silvestri Vineyards. We will miss you so much. But you have left us in great hands with Francisco as our Sales Rep and Daniella as our new tasting room manager. Congratulations to all!
Salute!
Sandra

From The Winemaker
Good gracious, we are in September, how the heck did that happen? As time flies by, the year remains a bit behind sugar wise in the vineyard, so it looks like a late harvest this year! No matter what kind of farming you are doing, understanding that so much is out of your hands is imperative. Control what you can control is the mantra. Speaking of, in the winery it's a bit different. I do have control over a lot of aspects and that gives a little piece of mind. Some of you might remember vintage 2021 as also a super late year, we picked the Barbera in December, Yikes!!! Having just bottled the 2021 just last week, I am super stoked about how they came out, considering we did not get the sugars we generally get or want. You just never know. I kind of equate this venture, vine growing and wine making, to baseball, just when you think you know something, you quickly find out that you haven't even scratched the surface, humbling! Anyway, I am praying this El Nino doesn't hit too early and we have the most epic Indian Summer ever!!!
Cheers, Frank

From The Tasting Room:
September means Wine Club release. Join us in the Silvestri tasting room the last week of September to pick-up your wines and spend time with our wonderful staff. We will be providing snacks and goodies to our dedicated wine club members. Don't miss out on swinging by. More details will follow in the wine club email.
Recently, it was all hands-on deck to bottle all our new vintages! We spent two whole days filling, packing and labeling bottles and cases. The hard work pays off when we can share our lovely bottles with our appreciative customers. Our wine maker, Frank, worked his magic, again. We got a little taste of each one and we all are definitely in for a treat! Soon, but not soon enough!
We are one staff member down here in the Silvestri tasting room. As you have read in Sandra's section, Dorothea has moved to the East Coast. If you are a regular and notice our schedules are mixed around, that is the reason why. We will have a new employee in due time, so stop in and meet the new member of our team! As of now, the Silvestri tasting room will still be open daily from 12-6pm. We hope to see everyone soon!
If you are interested in being a part of our amazing Wine Club, members get exclusive offers! We offer our Signature Wine Club where members receive a 20% discount on regular priced wines and most on-sale wines. Sign-up is simple through the tasting room or on our website and benefits start immediately. Shipping wine is easy, too! Silvestri ships directly to select destinations across the U.S. Order online or through the tasting room with assistance from our knowledgeable staff.
We look forward to seeing you in the tasting room soon.
