December 2023
Oh, my goodness what a month November turned out to be! Harvest and weddings and family visits and Thanksgiving!! And all of it was happening right here in beautiful Carmel Valley. Every once in a while, you have a time in your life when everything seems to happen at once. The holidays feel like this almost every year. But then every once in a great while you have a month where life just seems to rush at you with such passion, it is almost too much. November 2023 was one of those months for the Silvestri family and Silvestri Vineyards. Harvest was late but perfect with one of the most abundant and perfect vintages we have ever had. Our son's wedding to his new bride, Ashley, came in the middle of harvest. BUT because it did, we were able to share the wine from Silvestri Vineyards not only at the reception but at a small on-site tasting for our guests in the vineyard. We are blessed on the Monterey Peninsula with some of the finest venues, chefs, caterers, florists, wedding planners, musicians, and wine (yes, wine) of any place on the planet. For our son's wedding, the blessings flowed and flowed as these artists brought their talents to our table and made a night that NONE of us will ever forget. Thank you to all who made this so special for our family and especially for our James and Ashley.
Thanksgiving was also very special this year. November is always some of our best weather and this year delivered big time with beautiful colors in all of the vineyards. We spent a week with our family in the vineyard tasting wine, eating turkey, riding horses and enjoying the bounty of life in Carmel Valley. Lucky us. The world news is so horrific and life in other spheres so sad, we are overwhelmed with gratitude to live in this amazing place, but we pray for all who are suffering and who are in need. We hope that you will join us in giving generously to your neighbors near and far as you celebrate your lives. As Dickens so beautifully said, God Bless Us Everyone.
As we prepare for the upcoming holiday season of December, we want to express our deep gratitude for all of you, our friends, family and customers. You share yourselves with us in so many ways and we are very thankful for the gifts you give to us in time and patronage. Visiting with you in the tasting room or elsewhere is always a highlight for us. Thank you for reaching out.

From The Winemaker
Happy Post Harvest everyone!!
December has arrived and thankfully we are starting to slow down a bit. The 2023 vintage has been a whirlwind. The year started cold and wet and seemed like we went from winter to summer without spring really ever showing up. In the vineyard world, especially the cool climate areas, powdery mildew was a major problem, we fortunately, were on top of it, and escaped the massive damage that a lot of people had to deal with. Although we got through that unscathed, we weren't quite out of the woods because it was still a brutally cold summer and coming close to normal harvest time we were about a month behind with fruit maturity, potentially catastrophic!! We, of course, never lose faith and almost count on an Indian Summer, and thankfully we had two pretty substantial heatwaves that essentially saved the year. Rain held off, and we were able to pick ripe beautiful fruit in do time. The amazing thing about cool years is, if you can eventually get it ripe, the wine ends up unbelievable and I think 2023 is going to be one of those years. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays of all types, Cheers and we will see ya in 2024.
