From Sandra's Desk
June is the month of "crossed fingers". If we get through these final weeks, we can feel pretty confident we are safe from frost. But around the corner is heat and the dreaded fire season! Yikes!! Farming! But there are so many wonderful moments too. The vines are full of leaves reaching to the sky and the land is warm and inviting. The wind hasn't entered the blast zone yet and the fog almost always clears early. In other words, it's the perfect month.
Alan and I will be spending a lot of time in the valley as he continues work on his latest film project, "The Electric State" with the Russo Brothers. Music and grape vines…. other than my family and friends, I have no greater loves. Heaven!
We will be attending the opening night of the Back to the Future US tour but otherwise we hope to see you in the tasting room or around town. Life is always an adventure.
Enjoy the early days of summer!
Salute!
Sandra

From The Winemaker
Hi all,
Happy end of the school year and soon to be Summer. We have finally had some hot weather and that has started the flowering process. Flowering is a very cool time in the vineyard. The little grape clusters and their individual little grapes have a dynamic white flower that has an aroma that fills the vineyard. It's an amazing time. The thing about flowering is that you must be careful not to work in there knocking flowers off causing the future clusters to have missing spaces, not a good look. It is also imperative that the weather is steady, nothing too drastic, whether that be heat waves, rain, etc, etc. So far, so good, let's hope it maintains a slow and steady as we go approach. Nothing to report in the winery, we bottle in August so July will be a busy time putting the final blends together for the '23 Chards and Pinots, and the "22 Big Reds. Enjoy the Summer.

From The Tasting Room:
Hello June!
This month, the tasting room staff took a field trip out to the Silvestri Vineyard in Carmel Valley. We had our Wine Maker, Frank, and Ranch Manager, Marshall, teach us what the land has to offer. We enjoyed a warm day talking about the vines and what it takes to manage each varietal. Our vineyard consists of about 16 planted acres. From just those 16 acres we currently produce 13 different varietals, not including the different clones of our Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah.
With all this fruit, Frank and Marshall stay plenty busy making sure the vines are happy. We all appreciate the work you guys do to provide the Silvestri label with the greatest wine!
The tasting room would love to share these great wines with everyone this summer. Our tasting room, in Carmel-by-the-Sea, is open daily from 12-6pm. Please pop in to chat and cheers.
